Senior Trainer & Behaviour Consultant
Kia ora koutou
My name is Julie, and I am a professional force-free dog trainer and behaviour consultant based on the Devonport Peninsula. After 25 years as an Artistic Director I transitioned into the world of canine behaviour and training—a journey inspired by my lifelong love for animals and the arrival of Riley, our spirited American Bulldog cross.
My passion for positive reinforcement training was sparked through working with Samantha at Howlistic Help, and since then, I’ve been committed to helping dogs and their families build stronger, more harmonious relationships. I hold a qualification in Canine Behaviour and Training from Unitec and continue to deepen my expertise through ongoing education and inspiration from leaders in the field.
I take an integrative approach to dog training, recognising that a dog’s emotional, physical, and social needs must be met for genuine behavioural change. Equally, I focus on supporting families, ensuring they feel empowered and confident in their training journey. Whether it’s teaching foundational skills, managing behavioural challenges, or helping rescue dogs settle into their forever homes, my goal is to create positive outcomes for both dogs and their humans.
I’m particularly passionate about working with rescue dogs and building trust and connection through force-free methods. For me, training is about more than just teaching cues—it’s about fostering understanding, patience, and joy between dogs and their people.
As a Devonport local, I love working within my community and spending time outdoors with my partner and two teenage sons. I look forward to helping you and your dog navigate the challenges of life together, creating a bond built on trust, kindness, and mutual respect.
